Harbor 20 Program Information

The South Carolina Yacht Club is proud to announce the purchase of three Harbor 20 sailboats. The Harbor 20 is a 20 foot sailboat that has been designed to offer the best in comfort and convenience while its performance makes it a natural club racer. The boat accommodates up to 8 people, but can be easily managed by one. Beginning in June 2008 the Club will offer several different programs with our new fleet.

 

Adult Learn to Sail Group Instruction

  • To be held every Thursday from 5pm - 7pm (Instruction by fellow SCYC sailors)

  • $45 per person - (Non-Harbor 20 Club SCYC Members)

  • $20 per person - (Harbor 20 Club Members)

 

Racing

  • Held Wednesday Nights ~ 5pm - 7pm

  • Saturday Afternoons beginning in June ~ 3pm - 5pm

  • Racing Fee - $10/person

  • Includes:

    Water/Beer to take on boats during racing
    Ticket for complimentary cocktail in Chart Room afterwards
    Light Snacks afterwards
    Weekly and Series trophies

  • A $25 Boat Usage Fee also applies for Non-Harbor 20 SCYC members

 

Other Fee-Based Programming for Non-Harbor 20 SCYC Members

 

  • Individual Boat Rentals - $125 (up to 3 hours at a time)

  • Briny Brothers group sailing (if applicable)

  • Group Tactics Instruction

  • Other sailing groups are being considered depending on needs of membership

 

Harbor 20 Club Membership Schedule of Fees:
(All Inclusive "Add on" membership)
 

 Initiation Fees:

  • $2,000 - Individual

  • $3,000 - Couple
    ***SPECIAL to first 12 members - $1,500/single - $2,500/couple

  • $210 month/individual -$325 month/couple

          One-Year Commitment Required

 

Harbor 20 Club Membership Features and Benefits:

 

  • Unlimited Scheduled Boat Usage for three (3) hours at a time (Scheduled with the Sailing Coordinator)

  • NO COST for annual maintenance and repairs, dockage, insurance, etc.

  • Access to a docked boat right here in Windmill Harbour!

  • NO OWNERSHIP TIES to boat (not burdened with having to sell asset if needed)

  • NO FUEL COSTS with this type of boat

  • Preference in scheduling usage over members that are on a "fee-based" usage

  • NO USAGE FEES for racing activities

  • NO USAGE FEES for lessons

  • First priority for utilizing boats in our annual regattas

  • Discounted rate on group Adult Learn to Sail Group Instruction

 

SAFETY is our #1 Priority!
The following will be prerequisites for being a member of the Harbor 20 Club:

  • Must be willing to participate in a complimentary 3-hour orientation/lesson with one of the Harbor 20 Fleet sailors.  Even if a member is a well-accomplished sailor, this will insure that all members are completely familiar with the workings of this particular model sailboat.  During this orientation/lesson the member must demonstrate his/her ability to operate the boat competently and safely until the H20 fleet sailor is comfortable. 

  • In order to become a member of the H20 Club you must be an SCYC member in good standing.

  • Must be willing to engage in "End of day sweat effort" - which will include simple end-of-use simple cleaning. (Hosing surface of hull and deck, removal of all trash items, storing of electric motor, covering sails if necessary, plugging in of battery, following end use checklist posted on boat).

  • Must have the ability to make a one-year commitment to monthly dues attributed to being a member of the Harbor 20 club.  Monthly dues agreements will renew on an annual basis in the month of May.
